MORE ABOUT OUR WORK

Our community services include skills development, community development and supporting local projects with a positive impact on the Hogsback environment

2ND TIME AROUND CHARITY SHOP

Our charity shop has become a firm favourite for a cross section of the Hogsback community. The generous donations of clothes, books and household equipment, enables even the poorest of people to clothe their families.

The shop also provides an outlet for local crafters to sell and showcase their crafts. The income from the shop provides part-time employment for two ladies and covers the cost of electricity and expenses.

SKILLS TRAINING CENTRE

Jikani hosts a fully equipped computer training centre, capable of providing IT training on Windows computers, as well as Raspberry Pi's.

The centre also functions as a small business development centre, providing internet access, printing and photocopying services.

Jikani also maintains a database of job-seekers and can assist with the creation of CV's and job applications.

READING ROOM & LIBRARY

The Hogsback community library is housed on the Jikani premises, where a fully-furnished reading room provides a safe space for local children to enjoy the beauty of books.

School children also enjoy a regular elders reading session, where they are encouraged to explore further books on their own as well.

WITH THANKS TO ALL FRIENDS OF JIKANI

Our generous supporters enable us to continue making a difference in people's lives

Mission at the Eastward

MATE's relationship with the Tyume Valley began in 2000, working to support Dr. Norma's HIV/AIDS work. MATE has continued to support Home Gardens in many of the villages that comprised the Macfarlan congregation in the Tyume. Their recent visit in 2019 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the uniting of the Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa led to a generous final donation, as the Mission winds up its work in the valley.

BUCO

Buco East London very kindly donated materials and funds to establish the reading room and library. Their support was instrumental in obtaining the right materials, and the professional advice to implement the building project.

Body Right Panelbeaters

Great people, and great panelbeaters, who have long supported Jikani's work. Funding from Body Right has enabled Jikani to complete our Skills Training Centre, as well as equip
