Jikani hosts a fully equipped computer training centre, capable of
providing IT training on Windows computers, as well as Raspberry Pi's.
The centre also functions as a small business development centre, providing internet access, printing and photocopying services.
Jikani also maintains a database of job-seekers and can assist with the creation of CV's and job applications.
Our charity shop has become a firm favourite for a cross section of
the Hogsback community. The generous donations of clothes, books and
household equipment, enables even the poorest of people to clothe their
families.
The shop also provides an outlet for local crafters to sell and
showcase their crafts. The income from the shop provides part-time
employment for two ladies and covers the cost of electricity and
expenses.
The Hogsback community library is housed on the Jikani premises,
where a fully-furnished reading room provides a safe space for local
children to enjoy the beauty of books.
School children also enjoy a regular elders reading session,
where they are encouraged to explore further books on their own as well.
The sweethearts assist in facilitating the handovers of wheelchairs to people in the community. These events are humbling and life-enriching experiences and provide an opportunity for volunteers and wheelchair beneficiaries to interact with each other.

See moreThe ladies in our beading and sewing workshops also produce beautiful Shweshwe items.
Jikani was instrumental in recycling plastic waste through using eco-bricks. Primary schools from the Eastern Cape such as Stirling and Yellow Woods, mounted a superb effort to supply eco-bricks, used to fill wall cavities in the library, and a bench outside the shop.
The Love Blankets Project raised over R4400, to create warm beautiful blankets for the less fortunate on those cold winter nights.
Jikani supported Malikanye to build proper toilet and playground facilities, together with a private donor.
Jikani facilitated a care-givers course for several local women, providing them with new job opportunities in old age care.
Jikani has supported a community effort to separate waste and establish a better recycling facility in town.
The course provides attendees with real life techniques to acquire life and workplace skills.
